Scan a multi-page document into a single file PDF - ControlCenter4 Home Mode

You'll need to save your file as a PDF so that multiple pages are combined into a single document.

Scan a document

1. Click the CC4 icon in the task tray and then click Open .

2. Load your document.

3. While on the Scan tab, select the Document Type .

If you're trying to scan multiple pages from the scanner glass:

a. Select Custom .

b. Cl ick the Custom Settings button.

c. Place a check next to Continuous Scanning and then click OK. (This option may be labeled "Manual Multi-page.")

4. Select your document's size from the dropdown box.

5. Click Scan. The document will now be scanned and will appear in the Image Viewer. You may use the buttons at the top of the Image Viewer to make basic edits of your document.

If you're scanning multiple pages from the scanner glass using "Continuous Scanning", you'll be prompted for each additional page. Add the next page and click Continue . Click Finish once all pages have been scanned.

6. Once the document has scanned, you may do one of the following:

Save the scanned document

The Save button lets you scan an image to a folder on your hard disk in one of the file types shown in the file attachment list.

1. Click Save.

2. The Save dialog will appear.

3. You may configure the following settings:

- File Type: Select a PDF file type.

To save the document as a password-protected PDF, select Secure PDF Multi- Page (*pdf) from the File Type dropdown list, click , and then type the password.

If you select a PDF file that indicates "Single-Page", each page will scan into a separate file.

- File Size / File Size Priority: You can move the slider bar between Small and Large to adjust the file size.

- File Name: Select the default prefix for the scanned document's file name. The date and sequence number will be added to the end of this prefix.

- Scan Location or Destination Folder: Specify the location where the file will be saved.

- Show Folder: Place a check in this box if you would like the folder to automatically open after the scan is complete.

4. Once you have made your selections, click OK. The document will now save in the specified location.

Attach the scanned document to an outgoing e-mail message

The Scan E-mail button lets you scan a document to your default E-mail application, so you can send the scanned document as an attachment.

1. Click Send E-mail.

2. You may configure the following settings:

- File Type: Select a PDF file type.

To save the document as a password-protected PDF, select Secure PDF Multi- Page (*pdf) from the File Type dropdown list, click , and then type the password.

If you select a PDF file that indicates "Single-Page", each page will scan into a separate file.

3. Once you have made your selections, click OK. The document will now be attached into your default e-mail client as an outgoing e-mail message.

Convert the scanned document into editable text using OCR

The OCR (Optical Character Recognition) button lets you scan a document and convert it into text. This text can be edited using your favorite word processing software.

1. Click OCR.

2. You may configure the following settings:

- File Type: Select a PDF file type.

If you select a PDF file that indicates "Single-Page", each page will scan into a separate file.

- Target Application: Select which default application will open the file.

- OCR Language: Select the language of your document.

3. Once you have made your selections, click OK. The document will now be converted to OCR and opened in the selected application.
